The inaugural Nextgengolf City Tour Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club will officially kick off on Friday, September 18th. Players from across the country will be traveling to Chicago to represent their city to claim top honors for the summer of 2015. Players will have the opportunity to compete on professional quality golf courses, experience one of the most enjoyable cities in the summer time, and meet other 18-34 year olds who love the game of golf.
The two day, team-based best ball championship will be the first of its kind. Players from LA to Boston will be coming with teams of up to 8 players, to compete in a 2-person best ball format. The team total for each round is the top 2 best ball pairs, making it imperative that teams strategically assign best ball partners to best optimize their chances of success.
Players are in for some good surprises during the weekend. Our sponsors will be setting up a demo/skills challenge night. Srixon and Cleveland Golf will headline the skills challenges. Club Champion will also be sponsoring a night at their facility.
The City Tour officially launched in May and saw 44 events across 13 cities during the 4-month season. Players have expressed their enjoyment in the tournaments since they are conducive to a wide range of skills, they are accommodating to busy young professional schedules having events on one Sunday a month, and are team-based. What have our players missed the most since graduating from the high school or college teams? The team aspect! It is what makes us unique; similar to our NCCGA team based college non-varsity events Nextgengolf runs in the spring and fall, the teams are the center of what we do.
As we approach the #CityChamp at Cog Hill, be on the lookout for future blog articles with team profiles of those teeing it up. If you have questions about the City Tour or want to get involved, contact Matt Weinberger at matt@nextgengolf.org.
