College Golf leader Danny Kish Interview at Stow Acres

New England Regional 2 Individual Champion – Danny Kish

Danny Kish plays on the club college golf team at UNH. We sat down with him to ask him a view questions.

Danny, congrats on the win! What did you think of the courses this weekend? What did you do particularly well that allowed you to post good numbers?

The courses were in great shape besides some softness to the greens causing a lot of marks. I tried to get comfortable over every tee shot because there were some odd shaped holes. Once you put it in play, it all depended on the putter.

How do you practice in between events, and where do you play golf during the semester? How about preparing for the college golf season in the summer?

My practice has been limited, but when I get to the range I keep it short, hit a couple good shots. Usually mess around and just hit stingers, but my main focus is always 120 and in with my wedge game.

We play at Pease CC and Rochester CC and Fore On 4  Driving Range. I grew up playing Hoodkroft CC, but I’ll be working and playing Rochester for the summer.

What's your background in golf? When did you start playing, why did you begin to take it seriously, career low, holes-in-one, etc.

Started in 4th grade, played middle school golf, summer before freshman year I started to be above average for my age. Career low is 66, tournament low is 68.

What's in your bag?

Titleist driver, Cleveland Launcher 5w I've had since 7th grade, Mizuno MP60 irons, Titleist Vokey 50 54 58 wedges, long putter.

What year are in and what is your major while in college? Do you have any plans for yourself after you play college golf?

I am a junior history major. I want to teach high school social studies and coach.

Thanks, and good luck in the fall!
