College golf is ready for its premier event.

After concluding the final weekend of regional tournament play over the weekend with four tournaments around the nation, the National Championship field has been set.

Everything you need to know about the NCCGA National Championship

All four tournaments had Nationals qualifying implications on the line, with teams and individuals battling for the final few spots to compete at Dancing Rabbit.

Congratulations to Auburn’s Chase Hawthorne and the University of Auburn for winning this week’s NCCGA Player and Team of the Week, respectively.

Here is the in-depth recap of the college golf action from around the nation:

NORTH CAROLINA REGION

The North Carolina Region is typically one of the most hotly contested in college golf.

This week proved to be no different. After posting the only sub-400 team round of the tournament, UNC-Wilmington marched to victory in Regional Tournament No. 2.

Wilmington’s Chase Anderson led the way, as one of only two individuals in the tournament to post two rounds in the 70s.

Wilmington, entering as an underdog after Campbell took the RT No. 1 title, beat Campbell by 30 strokes, NC State by 38 strokes and Wake Forest by 58.

The second-place finish sealed a Nationals bid for Campbell.

SOUTH REGION

Plain and simple - Auburn’s Chase Hawthorne went low this week.

Rounds of 70 and 69 for a five-under par, 139 paved the way for a 14-stroke individual victory in the South. College golf had its best team competition of the week in the South.

Alabama led the way after day one, but five schools were within a mere 15 strokes of the lead. Auburn stormed back in day two, posting a score 39 strokes below what they shot on day one to secure a two-stroke victory over the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will be representing the South Region at the NCCGA National Championship.

COLONIAL REGION

The final week of college golf had all kinds of close races that came down to the wire and the battle between Virginia and James Madison was one to be remembered.

An individual battle ensued between William & Mary’s Bob Bonney and Virginia’s Bryan Carter, who both finshed at plus-16. Carter sank a birdie putt on the first playoff hole to take home Medalist honors.

Virginia, who held a nine-stroke lead after day one, squeaked out a two-stroke win over James Madison, the team that posted the lowest team score of the tournament on day two with a 412.

After a win in RT No. 1, James Madison will be representing the Colonial Region on Nov. 15-16, ending a long run of dominance for Virginia and Virginia Tech.

GULF REGION

Two teams competed in the second Gulf regional tournament, with LSU coming out on top over the University of Louisiana-Monroe. LSU’s Cody Maxwell and Josh Orsulak were the lone individuals to post final scores in the single digits above par. Maxwell finished at five-over par, 149 with Orsulak trailing at eight-over par, 152.
