Check out a quick interview with NCCGA South Regional Coordinator Zach Chambliss: NCCGA South - Zach
The South Region is improving and expanding by the semester. A region that contained only 6 teams last fall is looking to add 4 new teams this semester.
Currently we are working with Auburn University, Wallace State, The University of Alabama Birmingham and The University of Alabama Huntsville. Our first regional tournament is scheduled for March 1st and 2nd at Silver Lakes Golf Course near Glencoe, Alabama. Silver Lakes is a Robert Trent Jones facility, and everyone is excited to have the opportunity to play this beautiful course. Alabama and East Tennessee State are the two strongest teams in the region. Alabama looks forward to defending its regional title, and is returning every player from last semester. East Tennessee State always brings a solid group of players, and knows what it takes to win a national championship.

The second regional is scheduled for April 12th and 13th at Three Ridges Golf Course in Knoxville, Tennessee. The South Region is growing really fast and I look forward to seeing it reach its potential. There are so many quality golf courses in the South, and our weather in the spring is something that we all take for granted. Our warm weather could give us a competitive advantage to the team that ends up qualifying for nationals. The opportunity to travel to New Jersey definitely provides the teams in the South region a chance to practice a little harder.

I had the privilege to compete in the Fall 2013 National Championship in Myrtle Beach with Alabama. It was an amazing experience. A college student that still yearns to compete, but also has to find time to study and maintain a healthy social life, will feel right at home in the NCCGA. That is why I want to share my experience with as many golfers in my region as possible. Every college should have a club team competing in the NCCGA!
