Excitement has been building for the NCCGA fall 2013 season. With Nationals planned at Barefoot Resort and a tremendous expansion of Regions from last semester, this fall will bring excitement to club golf.
Along with the growth, there will be some changes made this semester to improve the quality of the Association for our members. The NCCGA Regional Tournaments will now be walking based, with the option to ride, much like state and national amateur tournaments. This move is based upon suggestions we have received from NCCGA players over the past few semesters.
In addition, the NCCGA National Championship will expand from 14 to 24 teams. In order to accommodate the growth, this larger field will showcase the additional talent across the nation. The Barefoot Resort Dye and Love courses will play host to the season’s final event, with half the players competing on each course each day. I had the privilege to stop by the venue last week, and the clubhouse and layout look amazing. It will be a treat for those teams who qualify.
The Regional Tournament dates and locations will be released in the coming weeks. We are currently finalizing the negotiations with courses for ensure we can offer the lowest prices at the best courses. The web site will be up-to-date once those dates and locations are finalized.
We are in the process of speaking with all of the club presidents and regional coordinators to get everyone prepped and ready for the biggest NCCGA season we’ve ever had. The number of competing teams has tripled in the past year alone (50 to 150+) so we couldn’t be more thrilled for what lies ahead in September.
