The Texas Region of the NCCGA is quickly becoming one of the best in the nation. We recently celebrated our first birthday. After a year of growth and improvement, 8 teams will tee it up this in Houston to kick of a new season of Texas Club Golf. Eagle Pointe Golf Club, a par-71, 6900 yard challenge lined with trees from tee to green, will be a true measure of the best club teams in the region.
Favorites:
Baylor - The Baylor Bears are our defending champions. They represented the Texas Region well in the Fall 2013 National Championship in Myrtle Beach, finishing T-2. The Bears are the clear favorite in this season, returning 7 out of their 8 national players.
Texas A & M- The Aggies will be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Despite having home course advantage in the Fall, Texas A & M finished 3rd in the region. Look for them to come back strong this semester.
TCU- The Texas Region runner-up barely missed a wildcard spot in the Fall National Championship. They will certainly be a force to reckon with in Houston.
Newcomers:
Tarleton St.- The Tarleton State team has exploded in the past few weeks. They will bring 8 players to their first ever regional tournament. Will they be able to hang with the big 3?
Texas – Austin- You have to believe that there are some great non-varsity golfers at the University of Texas. The Longhorns bring a full team of 8. They have the best chance of pulling the upset against our 3 teams ranked in the NCCGA Top 30.
