Tennessee Tech Headed To Jersey From South

The NCCGA South Region capped off its 2014 spring season at Centennial Golf Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The first round took place Saturday, April 12th, and was playing 6,633 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 72.2 and a slope of 128. The weather was absolutely perfect both days other than some heavy winds that started Sunday afternoon. The field was composed of 3 teams: Alabama, Tennessee, and Tennessee Tech. Auburn University Montgomery brought 3 individuals.

Tennessee Tech lead after day one, they shot 392. Tennessee was in a close 2nd with 396, and Alabama was only 10 back with 402. Individually Ben Dabbs led after day one with a +1 round of 72. Kyle Wittler was in a close second with 73. The second round started early Sunday morning in absolutely perfect weather. The wind picked up on the back nine and was gusting to 40 mph. This really affected players and led to some higher scores. Tennessee Tech shot 394 and held off Tennessee by 24 shots. Alabama Finished with a respectable two day total of 813.

Individually Ben Dabbs won with a two-day total of 153. Neil Gannaway finished just one-shot back with a two day total of 154. The All-Tournament team was Cole Becker +20(UA), Zach Chambliss +18(UA), Cameron Vaughn +17(Tenn Tech), Robbie Szozda +15(Tenn Tech), Kyle Wittler +14(UT), Jonathan Wilhite +14(Tenn Tech), Neil Gannaway +12(Tenn Tech), and Ben Dabbs +11(UT).

Tennessee Tech won the region overall and qualified for nationals in New Jersey. Darren Gregory, the club's president, is extremely excited; being this is their first time qualifying for the National Championship. This was a great conclusion to Regional play and I look forward to following Tennessee Tech at Nationals.
