The Atlantic region, one that has been dominated by Pitt over the past two semesters and especially this past semester; with no team coming within 17 shots.
The other teams in the region, Penn State, West Virginia, Robert Morris, Youngstown State, and Duquesne; all of which will be looking to improve on the fall semester where it was not for a lack of talent but lack of consistency that held them all back.
Pitt has two-straight Nationals appearances.
The first tournament will be held at Birdsfoot Golf course in Freeport, PA a bit of a home event for the Pittsburgh schools but not more than 3 hours from any of the other schools. Pitt brings back a majority of the roster that dominated during the fall semester. The biggest x-factor not just for Pitt but for all the teams in the Atlantic region is how much they were able to practice is the snowy and bitterly cold winter. With some indoor options in Pittsburgh, Duquesne and Robert Morris as well as Pitt should have some players who are well prepared for the season. The weather has warmed up over the past 10 days or so, so those schools without the option to practice indoors could get out and practice for the tournament. It will be very interesting to see if any school can even give Pitt a scare this semester or will it be smooth sailing for them again.
