How did this victory compare with your victory in the spring at Shady Valley?

This victory was very similar, both courses are very narrow and placing the ball in the correct spots off the tee is imperative. This course sets up nice for me with my left to right ball flight and really puts a premium on getting off the tee. I had a slim lead going into round 2 and did not have as much room for error as I did at Shady Valley.

Did you know where you stood coming down the stretch of the tournament?

I knew where I stood relative to the players in my group and had heard from others what scores were already in the clubhouse. I knew if I shot the same score or better from round one I would have a decent chance. Standing on the 18th tee knowing I had a 2 shot lead was a relief and made the hole much easier.

What was your favorite moment of the tournament?

My favorite moment of the tournament was hitting my approach shot on #10 to a foot during the second round, it really helped me gain momentum heading into the back nine on Sunday.

What was a highlight of last spring's national championship and what are you excited about this year?

Definitely playing The Kampen course was the highlight for me. In Texas we don't get to play bent grass courses like those up north so it was a real luxury. The course was in excellent condition and hosted an awesome tournament. This year I'm looking forward to Myrtle beach and the east coast. I've never visited South Carolina and I'm really looking forward to seeing what it's all about. I've heard great things about the Barefoot Resort and am hoping to represent Texas A&M well.

How has the NCCGA improved your golf game and what do you look forward to in the future?

The NCCGA has really enabled me to gain experience in tournament golf and has taught me how to close out tournaments and win. I hope to see the NCCGA become a stepping stone to college golf programs and allow for players to showcase their skills to college golf coaches.
