The NCCGA North Region kicked off its fall session in Grafton, WI at Fire Ridge Golf Club this weekend. The weather was great for the teams, which is a rare occurrence in the North.
The tournament concluded in close fashion Sunday as Marquette Club Golf took Tournament 1 and their first NCCGA regional by just a single stroke holding off University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (A). Marquette was led by Patrick Lynch (+5) and James Christian (+6) as the team took away the North Region from the dominant University of Wisconsin-Madison who has an astounding 4 consecutive Nationals appearances under their belt.
Individual Medalist Tom Boockmeier 72-72 (E) weekend said “the greens were tough, and you could see that in the first day of scoring.” Tom managed to help his team to a 4th place finish behind Madison. The teams have a tough Lake Arrowhead course for tournament 2 to look forward to.
The young Wisconsin-Madison club golf team is eager to fill the shoes of those before them, and UW-Milwaukee is looking for revenge on Marquette after the close finish of tournament one.
The North region is far from decided as multiple teamshave their eye on the #TrailToTPC. The region completes their second tournament this weekend.
