We are excited to announce the location of the 2016 City Tour Championship – Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Atlantic City, NJ on September 17th and 18th! Seaview not only is the current host of the Shoprite LPGA Classic, but has had a storied past including the 1942 PGA Championship, the tournament Sam Snead earned his first major.
The 36-hole Seaview venue (Bay and Pines courses) had single 9 from each course used for the 1942 PGA Championship, making it a unique experience today to play each of these courses. The final match of the 1942 championship came down to Snead pulling out a hard fought 2 and 1 victory including a 50ft chip in on his 17th hole. Snead left the next day to join the Navy, the year which also saw the US and British Opens canceled due to World War II.
Golfers 18-34 years old from across the country will be competing at local team-based City Tour qualifiers in major cities from May through August in either the best-ball or scramble formats to secure a bid to the second annual City Tour Championship. Team Slice & Dice from Cincinnati were crowned champions in 2015 with their decisive victory at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.
Participants at the 2016 City Tour Championship will be in for a real treat when they arrive to Seaview Hotel & Golf Club. Atlantic City will be a fun atmosphere and the course will be challenging for all golfers. Looking forward to a great 2016 City Tour season.
