Tournament Report
The second regional of the Ozark Region Fall Season looked to be one with lots of fireworks as four of the Top 10 club teams in the nation converged on the small town of Alma, Arkansas. High winds and a difficult course caused higher than average scoring on day one leading to a rebuilt Arkansas team being tied with the regional one victor, Tulsa, going into the second round on Sunday. Arkansas Tech's Hunter Mobley found a way to navigate the Saturday conditions to shoot a 73. Tulsa's Justin Strathe was close behind trailing by only one streak by carding a 74.
Sunday morning proved to provide conditions that were primed for low scoring. Several players were able to take advantage of the conditions, however the course's back nine once again showed its teeth. Hunter Mobley lead the field out onto the course and shot a 75 which proved to enough to place him in a tie for the low tournament total of 148. The player tied for the low tournament total was Tulsa's, Francisco Yanez, following his Sunday round of 72. The University of Tulsa shaved a stroke to fire a team 400 which was all that was required to win the tournament by a single stroke over Arkansas. The University of Tulsa earned the Ozark Region's automatic bid to the Fall 2016 National Championship.
The NCCGA hosted our 2nd golf tournament of the season in Ozark Region at Eagle Crest Golf Course on Oct 29, 2016. Team University of Tulsa (A) won the division with a combined score of 801. The low individual score was recorded by Francisco Yanez shooting a score of 148.
