Nationals Qualifying Procedure:

  • 24 Teams to compete at Nationals
  • 1 Team Automatic bid from previous National Tournament Winner (ETSU)
  • 1 team Qualifies from each region (Region must have 5 teams compete in a Regional Tournament to have automatic bid)
  • Wild Card slots will fill the rest of the bids to complete 24 team field
  • 16 Individual Qualifiers (top scores from non-qualifying teams)

Wildcard Team Selection

  • Must compete in both Regional Tournaments
  • Wild Card teams will consist of lowest Handicap differentials based on the handicap system
  • Handicap differential compares your score to par, but takes the slope and rating into effect in its calculation
  • Handicap Differential = (Gross Score – Rating)*113 / Slope

Example:

Regional 1:
Gross Score = 800
Course Rating = 72.4 or (72.4*10 rounds = 724)
Slope = 130
Handicap Differential = (800-724)*113 / 130 = +66
Regional 2:
Gross Score = 797
Course Rating = 72.9
Slope = 130
Handicap Differential = (797-729)*113/130 = +59
Total Handicap Differential = +125 (actual +157)
Team Tiebreaker Policy

If a tie were to occur the lowest regional handicap differential will qualify Regional Winner Dropout Policy

If the Region Winner can not attend Nationals, their Nationals spot will be given to the second place team in that Region. If the second place team can not play this spot will be treated as an additional wild card spot.

Individual Qualifying

Top 16 individual tournament scores for both regionals combined compared to par for the non-qualifying teams of all regions.

Individual Tiebreaker Policy
